While we were waiting for our boat ride back from Koh Tunsai to Kep, a boat with a group of monks just arrived.

Obviously, I like taking photos of monks, their saffron robes draws the eye.
Also an entry for Wordless Wednesday.

The Terrace of the Leper King..

You can see this beautifully detailed structure right alongside the Terrace of the Elephants, Angkor Park in Siem Reap. Accessible by main road, but you know a lot of people miss this, I’m one of them. In the few times I’ve been there, I would skip this place thinking its the same structure as the Terrace of the Elephants and besides its just too hot to go along and stroll there.
I’m so wrong. It stunning and very detailed. It was built at end of the 12th century by king Jayavarman VII and it features incredibly ornate bas reliefs.

We actually had this dinner a month or so ago, I just forgot to post about it. That was the night my husband was craving some grilled food and we drove to a newly opened place along St. 63. Anyway, when we got there I didn’t much like the feel of the place so I told Hi-ace to drive on.
And we ended up in T-Bone Steakhouse along Monivong Blvd. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I liked the dimly lit ambiance and the quick but unobtrusive service. They also had a small kids corner upstairs so the kiddo was kept busy.

Here’s what we had.

Grilled Salmon for me. It was good, the veggies a bit on the greasy side.
Yup. I’m looking at buying an entry level electric guitar.
Not for me though. Ha! It’s for a nephew and I was wondering if a good quality one can be bought here in Phnom Penh? I’m hoping we could find one here coz I don’t want to travel, shop and lug around a huge guitar with me.
And since were just looking for a basic beginner guitar, not some exceptional tech 21 power engine, I figured we might be able to find it here. So dear blog readers, if you know of a place, or if you have personal experience buying one in Phnom Penh, please drop me an email.
I’ve seen a couple of music shops around, esp along Monivong Blvd and near Central Market, and perhaps I’ll check them out. But if someone has any feedback about these shops then, I will really really appreciate your help.
Yup, were having a few days holiday again so its break time. It’s the King’s birthday and the holidays extend up to three days. My daughter has been asking me why its three days and she has been musing whether the Queen Mother went on labor for three days. Ha! I don’t really have an answer to that.
We decided to stay in the city instead of running for a short vacation in the province. Mainly because the heat is unbearable! I hardly ever go outside coz I always get migraines. But during this break, hubby tells me we’re doing some more DIY projects inside the house. (and you can hear me groaning loudly in protest..) So, I think the holidays will be spent looking for foam rubber grips, painting our newly installed cabinets, cleaning.
The horrors!! This ain’t a vacation, if you ask me. But even if I’m dreading breaking into massive sweating, I’m still looking forward to spending time with hubby and the kiddo. I only wish we could a coffee break every now and then..

Anyway, Phnom Penh-ites enjoy the long break! It’ll be awhile again till we have a long one..
I’m posting another Cambodia Snapshot. Non-Food. Lol. I noticed several consecutive posts are all about food and I won’t have you thinking my life revolves around food. Hahaha! So I sifted through my photo archive for some Cambodia landscape shots and here’s one that grabbed my attention.

West Baray in Siem Reap. Looks interesting right?
It’s a popular picnic place for Khmers. There are huts, hammocks, bbq and a random assortment of food vendors. What makes it more interesting though, is that, its not a beach, a river. Rather, its a man made reservoir built during the 11th century. There’s also the West Mebon temple ruins in the midst of all that water.
The snapshot was taken during the summer season hence the low water level.
