ISWAK – My Guilty Pleasure..

Posted by on Apr 2, 2008 in Lifestyle + More, Society and Culture | 0 comments

I’ve always said I don’t like watching TV and I find it really tiresome to watch long and endless TV dramas. But last Holy Week when everyone went to take vacations, me and hubby, let’s just call him H was left with nothing much to do. I went our dvd storage when I came across It Started With Kiss DVD.

I remember a cousin lending it to me some eons ago and I never got to watch it coz I was thinking its too long and probably too dramatic for my taste. I never liked too much crying hooplas on a series. Now left with nothing to do, we decided to watch ISWAK, and to our surprise we loved it!

Probably because the show was light and funny and romantic too. The only complaint I have with the series is its sooo long and the female character was just too stupid, I mean I would have liked it better if the character developed to a less klutzy, less stammering etc person. The actors in these series have a remarkable chemistry that you simply can’t help but empathize with them. At first you’d think love might be impossible between an attractive, smart guy and a clumsy, plain girl, this series would make you think again.. I know I’m blabbering like a teenageer, but watch it you might agree with me. It’s light, funny and very endearing..

Here’s a bit of an into…

ISWAK is about a not-so-bright high school girl (she’s from Class F!), klutzy, bubbly and optimistic girl Xiang Xin (played superbly by Ariel Lin). Xiang Xin is in love with the school’s resident genius, Class A student Zhi Shu (Joe Cheng). Zhi Shu is your all around genius, cold and a bit of a snob and he hates stupid girls. So Xiang Xin got rejected when she took the courage to confess here feeling for Zhi Shu. H thinks it was just hilarious when it was announced over the school’s public address system that “Hey! Xiang Xin of Class F’s proposal got rejected by Class A’s Zhi Shu!”

Trying my hands on digi-scrapbooking

Posted by on Apr 1, 2008 in Blogging and Web, Lifestyle + More | 1 comment

Envious of those who are into digital scrapbooking, I decided to try my hand at it. Found Scrapblog which allows users to create multimedia scrapbooks by mixing your photos, videos and other creative elements you can find on their site.

I tried exploring the site first for scrapbooks made by members and almost all were awesome, so I got pretty intimidated. I didn’t know to start or what media to use so I browsed my computer for some photos and found some of my daughter. Since its my first time, I decided to use their pre-made template and just added a few elements to make it more personalized.

Here’s my first two layouts.. Tell me what you think?

I thoroughly enjoyed making this so I want to make more.. will post some more soon. :)

Yahoo to launch SHINE, a site for women aged 25-54

Posted by on Mar 31, 2008 in Blogging and Web | 1 comment

Women are considered the key decision maker when it comes to household needs. Yahoo probably realized this since they are launching Shine, a new site for women aged 25-54. This market is currently under-served and yet advertisers in consumer goods, retail and pharmaceuticals have been looking for more ways to target this consumer bracket.

Although this new site already have an existing competition like iVillage and Glam Media Inc., Yahoo has hired a team of editors to produce original material and to seek out items of interest from elsewhere in Yahoo. With Shine, Yahoo plans to expand its offerings in parenting, sex and love, healthy living, food, career and money, entertainment, fashion, beauty, home life, and astrology.

Yahoo is partnering with media companies like Hearst Communications Inc. and Rodale Inc. for content exclusive to Shine. Hearst Communications publishes Redbook, Goodhousekeeping, and Cosmopolitan and other women-oriented magazines. Rodale Inc, publishes various magazines on sports and recreation and also Women’s Health.

This new site will be presented in a blog form a fresh deviation from other Yahoo sites.

Let’s watch and see how this new site will differ from iVillage. Personally though, the more women-oriented sites, the better! Glad to have lots of resources for us..
