How I Make Money On the Net with My Blog Sites

I’ve been blogging for more than a year already and it’s a really great hobby for me. I enjoy it, I love the tweaking part – “construction phase” of blogging, researching my content, writing posts, meeting fellow bloggers, and one of the best perks of blogging is that you can EARN from it.

Making Money Online Like me, at first, new bloggers might be wary that there are no legitimate means to make money online because of the presence of many scams and fly by night sites offering money making schemes. But as I explored the net and tried out various ways to earn online, there are actually earning methods online that are FREE and legitimate.

WRITING REVIEWS – one of my favorite ways to earn online.Majority of my online income when I first started blogging came from this. Sometimes I just don’t have the diligence to watch out and grab opportunities and I would just get reviews twice a week but I would still manage to earn about $150 – $200 per month for 2 blogs I use to write reviews. Not bad right? Enough to pay my hosting fee and a cup of frappuccino several times a week :) . That takes less than 6 hours of my time per week and I have some blogger friends who earn at least $400 per month just out of reviews.

There are review sites online and I’ve listed some of those I have joined and my thoughts on their services.

BLOGSVERTISE – easy to join, fast approval and they have a lot of regular opportunities.Reviews are assigned by admin and are priced around $7 to $15 and usually require 3 links from a 2-3 paragraph review. Once your review gets approved you will be paid after 30 days and from my experience they are one of those sites that really pay regularly. I’ve noticed that there are more review opps for home, furnishigs, lifestyle products here.Best of all, they accept blogspot or other free platform blogs.

SPONSOREDREVIEWS – one of my favorites. Easy to join, free hosted blogs are okay, and lots of available opportunities. This one though, you have to be active in bidding for review opp you want to write and the advertiser will ultimately decide if you can write it or not. So page rank, alexa as well as your blog content matters. Two things I like about SR is (1) their opps are priced reasonably well and (2) they pay every 2 weeks so you don’t have to wait out for a month to get your earnings.

LOUDLAUNCH – getting approved here is a bit tougher than others but they do accept free hosted blogs. The number of opps are considerably less but they pay higher. Reviews posted before the 20th get paid on the first week of each month.

PAYPERPOST – getting approved here is like a game of luck, I dunno but I had to submit my site several times to get approved. Plenty of opps but you have to compete with thousand others on their system. If you have a good page rank plus you have time to linger and wait and grab opps then you can make some $$ from PPP. This time though, PPP opps are priced so low and I don’t know if its worth it, think $.50 for a 50 word review? You also have to wait 30 days from post approval to get paid.

SOCIALSPARK – same company as Payperpost though they have added a bit of social networking features. They also have affiliate, sponsorship opps as well as post exchanging feature. Reviews are reasonably priced but you have to bid and wait for the advertiser to accept your bid before you can do the review. Payments are after 30 days and you have to wait until your balance reaches $25 before you can transfer your earnings to your paypal account.

SMORTY - I used to be a big fan of Smorty but lately though there are not much opps going around there. Getting approved is easy, then you just have to wait for opportunities to come up in your task page, then grab it as fast as you can if you want to have it. Smorty has thousands of bloggers waiting for opps and if your blog has Page Rank below 4, the waiting game will just have to be played longer. Payments are sent every 2 weeks via Paypal.

BUYBLOGREVIEWS - register, get approved then bid on opportunities listed. The problem lately is that opps here are now priced really low so I dunno if its worth it.

BLOGGERSREVIEW – i joined this, got approved, but I rarely see opps I am qualified in. Try it out, who knows you might get lucky with the opps.

PAYU2BLOG – one of my favorites. Getting approved here is tough. You need your own domain and self-hosted blog. But once you are approved, opps are always given, and every week I always get my share of opps. Reviews are priced about $5 for 1 link and 60 words.
Payments are sent promptly too every 2 weeks.

BLOGITIVE – i’ve joined this but I haven’t written any reviews for them yet. Reviews appear on your dashboard and you have to grab/reserve it before you can write.

SNAPBOMB – on this site, you have to paste a tracking code on your blog so they could determine your review price. Then you have to check out your dashboard if you have available opps. From what I have seen, they have a limited number of opps everytime or most of them are not in my niche.

LINKWORTH – one this site you have various means of earning, one of which is writing reviews. Here you have to register you blog, then advertisers will just contact you or you may choose among available reviews to write. You need to reach at least $25 to be able to transfer your earnings to paypal.

BLOGTOPROFIT – tough to get approve, tougher still to get opps. I have got any from here, but others I know are earning reasonably well from them. Another perk is that you can get your earnings in you own currency (check out their FAQ’s for more info).

iHYPE – I have just recently joined this so I’m reserving judgment. Registration is easy, once approved you may search for opportunities, reserve, then write.

REVIEWME – Another favorite. Submit your site, then choose 5 categories then wait for opps which arrives fairly regularly. Most are priced really well (I get around $18 – $25 per review for a PR3 blog). Your chosen categories can also be changed every 30 days. Payments are sent promptly on due dates.

PAYINGPOST – register, get approved, then search for review opps. Payments are sent every first day each of the month.

I’ve also joined InLinks where you can sell links to your content. Prices are based on traffic, and market demand.

Here’s some tips I have gathered along and hope it can be of help if you want to write reviews in your blogs.

  • work on your content first, update regularly, your site should be indexed my major search engines before submitting your blog sites to writing review sites. Most of them also require your site to be at least 30 (some 60 or 90) days old before adding your site to their marketplace.
  • have a Paypal account ready. most of these companies pay through paypal and they will ask for your paypal email address once you register your blog.
  • a blog with its own domain has some advantages over those on free platforms. One of the blogs I use for reviews is on blogspot and it gets rejected more frequently than my other self-hosted blog.Self-hosted blogs also command higher prices than free hosted blogs. I guess its because there are literally millions of blogs out there and majority of them just conking out regularly. If your blogs are self-hosted, at least it gives the advertisers an assurance your site won’t be going to the twilight zone anytime soon.
  • having a page rank is really a big factor if you are serious about earning from reviews. Review marketplace is pretty competitive, and a page rank 0 blog vs. a page rank 4 blog, of course advertisers would go for the latter for obvious reasons.
  • choose the reviews you write. At first I was really so attracted by those “gambling site reviews” and I just grabbed and wrote without thinking of how it would affect my blog but it just didn’t look good on my “women/mom themed” blog and also some potential advertisers frown upon sites who have links to these kinds of sites.
  • I’ve noticed some niches do get more review opps than others. E.g. women, home and lifestyle, autos, money/finances, health and mostly personal and general blogs. If your blog has a very specific niche (like humor, celebs etc..) and you’d like to write reviews, then think about creating another blog with a more general or personal content. This is what I did. I have several blogs with highly focused niches and I don’t post reviews on it, instead I have two blogs with general/mom/women/lifestyle/health themes for review writing.
  • its also important for a blog to have content other than just reviews. advertisers actually check out the site and they disapprove of sites with a review after review content.
  • Read the review sites FAQ’s and when you are writing a review, follow the advertisers requirements for easy approval. Some sites also have concerns about you writing for another site (like Payu2blog prefers blogs with no PPP reviews and banners…).

BLOG ADVERTISING – of course those little spaces on my blog sidebars, before or after posts I also make use to earn me some moolah.

GOOGLE ADSENSE – if you haven’t heard of this, then you must be out of touch with what most successful bloggers are raving about. If you have high traffic, Adsense is the best way to monetize your blog. Read on the Google Adsense help page and find out the various means you can make money with those small spaces. Google Adsense Heatmap works so read on it too so you’d know where to place your ads. (For me, the 300×250, 336×228 medium and large rectangle as well as 160×600 skycraper ad formats works best).

Project Wonderful – have extra ad spaces? Try out PJ’s ad network. Most advertisers here are blogs and your blog’s ad space price depends on your traffic. They have diffrent ad formats but what I use and what I usually see are the 125×125 and 117×30 ad sizes.I don’t earn big bucks here but just few cents each day but it doesn’t hurt to earn at least $5 per month for a 125×125 space that is just there and not do anything much except paste the code and forget about it.

Chitika – on this site you can choose which ad formats to display. They have graphic ads, shopping malls etc. I find this one really works particularly if you have good traffic from US.

Pepperjamnetwork - for this site, you have to register, be approved then you can choose among their advertisers and request the advertisers approval for you to display their ads. I like this one coz you have control over which ads you want to display, so if you have a niche blog, you can choose products that are related to your niche. I’ve just started to test this on some of my sites so I haven’t earned any yet.

Clickbooth – This site is a bit stricter than other ad networks in approving blog sites. Mine has been rejected but do try joining them since I’ve been hearing a lot of good feedback about them

PerformancingAds – register and join, then you can sell 125×125 ad spaces on your blog. You can set your own price and advertisers can purchase ad spots on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. I’ve earned some from this too. And it doesn’t require much effort on your part, just paste the code and PerformancingAds will do the rest. Though it helps of course that you have a regular traffic to get advertisers interest to buy your ad spots.

BlogherAds – if you are a woman and blogging, check out this ad network. Once you are registered and approved, you can register you women themed blog site, wait for their approval via email, then submit all the requirements. I have not yet displayed their ads on my site but I’m hearing good feedback from other BlogHerAds bloggers.

Adgitize – Just recently, I have joined this ad network where you can display ads of various sized on your blog sites and earn based on point accumulated when you write an article on your blogs, when you click on ads for other members within the community and for any visits to your own site or blog and for clicks on the ads displayed on your site. I’ll be updating this soon as I know how well this one’s working for me.

Online Jobs Sites like Mturk, ChaCha and Odesk are worth checking out if you spend a lot of time online. Some friends I know also do surveys,”click an ad” and affiliate programs to augment their online income but I haven’t tried it myself as I cannot be online most of the time.

That’s my list! There are some more earning sites waiting to be explored so I’ll probably be updating the list soon. If you know of a site worth trying out, kindly leave a comment with the site url as well as your feedback about the site’s services.
