I hate spam. (No not the canned food!) I’m sure most bloggers are familiar with it and I know a lot of them who are seriously pissed with spammers. It’s beginning to grate on my nerves too. Everyday, the first thing I would do is to sort out and reply on my blog comments. And everyday too I am greeted by hundreds of spams. I have more than five blogs so I think you can imagine how frustrating it can get…
I have Akismet installed for this wordpress blog and it has been a big help but still there are some legitimate comments that goes to the spam folder so I still end up checking it. It has been getting worse lately and not a day goes by where I have to weed out at least a hundred spam comments.
Grrr! Spammers be gone!
I hate spam too. I think it depends on the kind of niche you have. Based on my experience, I have one blog that infested with spam but the rest are not.
lito, yes i agree with you. I have another blog which rarely gets spam but this one and my celebrity blog really gets a big number. Now it has been down since I’ve installed the bad behavior plugin..

I used to get hundreds of spam a day on each of my blogs too and even though I used Akismet I’d still have to go through the spam looking for legit comments as well. Big pain.
Now I use the Bad Behavior plugin on most of my blogs and it basically hides your blog from bots. Cut the spam right down to almost nothing. On a few of my newer blogs I’ve been trying wp-spamfree and it’s working equally as well (I think they can be used together too, but I haven’t tried that, plus both work with Akismet activated).
Both of these plugins are easy to install although you do have to do a little bit of a setup (easy) for bad behavior.
It sounds like it might be time for you to try one of these plugins or perhaps something like Spam Karma (which I haven’t tried but I’ve heard people rave about it).
