I was craving for seafood the other day but I dunno how to buy crabs/lobsters here in Phnom Penh. I guess my mothe-in-law heard that and the next day my nephew brought me a huge plastic filled with crabs (Ma even fixed it and chopped it to bite size pieces) and also some curry powder and translated to English instructions on how to cook it. I’m lucky, really really lucky my mother-in-law pampers me a lot!
She knows enough that I don’t like pounding too many spices etc, so she bought packets of curry powder so cooking the crabs would be easy for me. And here’s the results..It was yummy and I added some chili. Let’s just say, during lunch time it was ‘galit galit‘ muna..
Just a bit of tidbit.. Cambodians love curry. They have different curries, some eaten with noodles, some with bread or rice. The difference between Thai/Indian and Khmer curries is that Cambodian’s prefer their curries to be a little less spicy, with more subtle flavors. All in all perfectly balanced..

(P.S. :> please delete my first comment please.. this is the one talaga.. sowe..

Yummy! I am always fond of seafood. I think my kosher diet will go out the door looking at all this shellfish pictures. I must have some…really…lol.
I’m so hungry right now looking at all the food entries! And yes, I thought I’m fulled!
Just looking at the pic makes me starving…hehehe….I never had crab curry before. It seems it tastes good coz even chicken curry tastes yummy. How much more it would be for crabs? Wouldn’t it be nice if you share the recipe?
Have a great week my friend!
@Bingkee, yes its so yummy! Will make you eat lots of rice.. I don’t know how to make it from scratch. My MIL just gave me 2 packets of Cambodian curry powder and asked me to saute the crabs till its cooked then the curry powder. Simmer for about 5 mins, add chili and sugar as desired and voila! the crab curry ready for serving. =)
@FoodTripFriday, yes. I’m rather fortunate..thanks.
@Mumsy, That’s what I love about Food Trip Fridays hehe..It’s fun to browse the entries and learn about each food.. The downside is, it stimulates my appetite, lol! bad bad for the diet..
