Play Time Soon!

All work, no play makes one dull. I agree with that. But I never really got into the gaming bandwagon. I know people has been going crazy about PSP’s, Nintendo’s, XBox’s but I was never really tempted to get one. My daughter even says, she’s the only one in her class without a PSP. hahaha! It’s not that Mommy is clueless, I just didn’t realize having that is worth it.

That was till the Peluka Sisters went on a Wii Tournament in Mumsified‘s place. It was fun and a darn good exercise! In less than 30 minutes, I was revved up and sweating and having tons of fun!

So both Sreisaat and I was sold on the idea of buying a Nintendo Wii! After checking the malls here and scouring online shops I settled on buying on from Amazon.com. It was a really good deal. Got the latest November 2010 release of Nintendo Wii White Bundle (includes the console, remote and wii motion plus, Wii Sports Game and a bonus Wii Resort Game) for only $194.99! With free shipping too.

Hubby’s bringing it with him next week. The dilemma now is to buy or not to buy a new TV now? I want to but I want to buy a good quality one. It’s not something I will be stingy with. Perhaps before December ends or early January, coz right now I could only afford the price of tv stands!

I’m pretty stoked about it and me thinks it’ll be a great help too in my quest to a lose weight..

My ArtsCow Goodie Bag

I did promise to give an update to my post about the trinkets from ArtsCow once I receive the goodies. I’ve actually been playing around with Artscow’s templates for months already and I have lots of saved designs but this is really my first time to order from them coz I was quite hesitant about the quality.

But Artscow makes a very convincing trial offer coz they give out lots of freebies. Especially if you subscribe to their newsletter or follow their Facebook page. I’ve accumulated lots of free items so I decided to give a go a few weeks ago. Ordered 5 pcs 8×10 collage, 6 pcs pins, 1 pencil case, 1 large mousepad, 1 2o pages photobook.

Except for the photobook which usually ships later, I already received all items. It came in several packets. I was not charged any customs/duties/taxes. Everything was well packed, the buttons was bubble wrapped, the pencil case and mousepad even have a separate bag made of cloth, and the collages with hard cardboard at the back to keep it from being folded.

Pencil case with two sides print. I really really love this! The kiddo goes through her pencil cases like a human shredder so the sturdy make, plus the black fabric lining inside is impressive.

Large Rectangular Mousepad – why didn’t I order a lot of this?I heart it! The top cover has a fabric like texture and the bottom has that almost rubber feel, its flexible and a far cry from other mousepads I had which were hard and tend to break into pieces after several months. This is a great gift idea, so grab yourself several from Artscow. I almost wish they also make custom clipboards, I want one with this design.

I’m still waiting for the photobook, I’ll post a photo once I got it. Of course, they also included a 35% Off discount coupon for my next orders. Nice! I think I’m going to grab my free magnets, and a couple of recycle shopping bags next.

Latest Pastime, Obsession, Creative Outlet..

Yup, here’s my latest. I’m not sure what to call it but I’m loving it coz it just keeps my creative juices flowing. There are times I wonder how I could keep up with lots of blogs and other projects. I think the trick that works for me is to be organized and also to allow myself to indulge in things I love.

Like when I ran out of things to blog, to write about, I simply stop and do some crocheting, cooking, I clean the house, I watch a really yucky soppy drama that gives me a lot of times to nitpick and laugh at, I download movies, I read a chapter on a book, I draw a lot and of course, hehe I go shopping.

And the latest in my line of hobbies: digital scrapbooking and making digi scrapbooking kits. How did come about? I started out with zero as in nil, cipher knowledge when it comes to graphic designing or even using the simplest of photo editing softwares. Then when I started a jewelry business I was forced to make a business card, then a banner. Then I started blogging, I had to make some more banners etc. The internet just has a wealth of resource to teach one if you want to learn. I ended up hopping from one tutorial to the next and trying it out and discovering different techniques.

I think the fun for me is discovering and learning new tricks as I go along. Then I found Artscow.com and got addicted to designing personalized knick knacks. I also saw their gallery of scrapbooking kits and I loved it.

So, I then experimented with making a scrap kit, one embellishment at a time. The first one I think is a bleh.. really. It took me two weeks to finish it and I thinks its a really simple one. Most of my kits I’ll be sharing for free and some for a minimal fee at ArtsCow..

She’s Being Funny Again..

When things like this happens, I find myself saying, “I am so totally blogging this!”. Then I move on to other things and end up forgetting about it. But now I resolve not to coz these moments I are just so random, and so precious, I have to keep a record of it somehow. Before I find myself distracted again with alli reviews, let me just share somethings my daughter, Chinks have just recently quipped that made me laugh out loud.

Chinks has been taking Khmer lessons for two hours every afternoon in her school. She’s really happy about it and I think she has the gift for learning languages easily. A few days ago, she came home skipping happily and singing a Khmer song. For those who knows my daughter, they’d know that she has an uncommonly loud voice hehe, and when she sings she’s usually out of sync but just makes up with her ‘performance’ energy.

Anyway, all evening she has been singing that song, and since I couldn’t understand any of the lyrics, I asked her what the song is about and what is it called. I gathered from the tone that is something like the national anthem of Cambodia.

While doing her singing thing in front of the mirror, she answered me in a totally exasperated, why-are-you-bothering-my-concert mode, “Mommy! This is the song where you’re not allowed to MOVE!” Hahaha! It took me a second or two to get what she meant, but I do remember that when you sing a national anthem, you have to behave properly and not move about much.. After my laughing fit, she turned to me again and said seriously, “I am going to teach you how to sing that and not move at all!” And that got me, lmao!

She had me rolling on the ‘bed’ laughing again last night. I was trying to get her to sleep early so she won’t have a hard time waking up but she seemed intent on asking a lot of questions. So I indulged her, then she asked me “where does mommy’s milk come from?” She told me she saw a picture of a baby in her baby book with the mommy breastfeeding her baby. So, then in the simplest terms I could manage, I tried explaining how a mom’s body produces healthy milk for her child.

She was listening intently and oh! so seriously and was quiet for a minute or two after I explained, then she wondered aloud, “So Mommy, are you a COW?”

That my friends is what you get out of motherhood. A chance to be compared to a cow. LOL! But in different vein, this is simply one of the joys of parenthood. Little things that may seem, well little, but in reality they are what makes us parents happy.

I wonder what she’ll say next…And I can’t help imagining with her smart mouth, what she’ll be saying when she get’s a little older.

Little Quirks That Make Khmers Unique

I’ve got about a dozen posts on draft but I’m nowhere near half way finishing them. It must be that really soothing massage I had earlier @ Bamboo Spa or the hearty late lunch we had at Mexican resto – Casa Lika near the riverside. But whatever it is I’m just so in the mood to procrastinate. So what I did this past two hours instead of researching best weight loss supplements- I just surfed the web and ended up in YouTube watching vids about Cambodia.

I found this really interesting and funny video from Spring Roll Fever, a Chicago Comedy Sketch Group and it had me ROFL! I just love those little quirks they mentioned and yes I’ve observed them among Khmers.

There are people who say negative things and tries to put down Khmers {see comments on the said video}, and I just don’t understand them. Khmers are just some of the most charming and nicest people I’ve known. Sure, there are some bad apples in the group like what I’ve mentioned in my previous post here. Just the same as in most races, there are good and bad points but in my experience the good far exceeds the bad.

Khmers have gone through a lot and I find them very admirable their sense of fortitude and their sense of humor even in dire times. I’ve also noticed a lot of similarities between my own Filipino upbringing and Khmers.

So how do you know you are Khmer indeed? Here’s some quirks mentioned in the video that I’ve personally observed too..

Your living room contains only Khmer DVD’s and karaokes – oohhh! I’ve seen this in my M-I-L’s house. And my Khmer nieces and nephews can belt out Khmer songs on karaoke like pros..{Which reminds me so much of my Filipino relatives back home hehe}

During a Khmer bbq party, the moms are the one’s cooking and the dads drinking and gambling and telling each other corny jokes - true! I’ve seen that a lot, but not really all..

Your parents buy a new dining table but your not allowed to eat on it – uh, yeah. Hubby’s cousin just bought a really pricey all wood dining set {I thought it was really nice} and I wondered why they still had to spread out a mat and not eat on the table..

You love to eat mango with salt, sugar and chili – oh yeah! and this has rubbed on me too! Now I can’t imagine eating green mango without those..

Khmers you haven’t seen for a long time tell you to your face that you got fat – Haha I’ve been on the receiving end of this one that I’ve grown immune to it already, perhaps they consider me now as semi-Khmer. Same with Pinoys too, they really would tell you to your face that your fat. No subtlety at all.

You wash with water instead of using toilet paper - true and this I don’t mind. I would definitely feel much cleaner with water and soap.

You use a pail and scoop for bathing even if you have a working shower – most Khmer homes I’ve been to have this bucket and scoop setup. Personally, I prefer using the shower but I don’t mind this Khmer quirk because most Pinoys are like this too.

You have at least one big picture of Angkor Wat in your house – ooops! we don’t have one yet. We do have an apsara wall decor…

Whenever you get sick you scratch with a coin – traditional cure. Yeah! I’ve tried this and you know what it did make me feel better and I even know how to do it!

You own at least one luxury car so you can roll it in a Khmer party even if you are poor- LMAO! Now I need to stop wondering why there are lots of Lexuses around..Maybe I should consider buying one hehe..

You got beat with almost every object in the house – hmm form of discipline. Yeah I’ve observed some..

Everybody is your cousin. – Another thing I feel comfortable with here. Extended family, just like back home in the Philippines!

You love prahok!- love would be an understatement! I think prahok is almost synonymous to being Cambodian. I even kidded hubby and asked him if eating prahok is a requirement for citizenship. Too bad I haven’t really learned yet to eat this. I’m just too sensitive with the smell, but who knows I might learn to like it someday.

Your name is almost the same as your brothers and sisters – true! I really have a hard time remembering the names. And its hard to distinguish a girl and boys name. Ex. I used to think Dara was a girl’s name but what do you know last week I met a guy named Dara. So now I’ve learned never to assume things..

You watched Tomb Raider only because it was filmed in Cambodia – hahaha yes I know..

You mix fish sauce, lime, some garlic, chili as dip for crab and lobster. – This is my all time favorite Khmer sauce! And it goes well with fried fish, shrimps and marinated/grilled pork too..

You bring the rice cooker on a picnic – so I’ve seen..

You own at least one furry fleece blankets and you have five more in stock just in case someone sleeps over. – =) My Khmer M-I-L gave me a whole bunch of these blankets and what do you know, I love it they are so comfy and warm. Can you blame Khmers for getting attached to it?

Your parents get invited to weddings every other weekend – yes, we get tons of invites and its not polite not go or not to send some $$ with the envelope. I rarely go but hubby usually goes and just a secret between us — this thing can get really expensive and threatens the monthly budget.

You dip french bread with condensed milk – ugh! hubby’s favorite snack. He says its so good. I don’t like it, I prefer french bread with ice cream haha specially those from the street carts!

Khmer men wear sarong at home – thankfully, Hi-ace doesn’t do this. But I did ask someone who does and they say its comfy. Now who are we to argue with that?

And one other unique thing I observed:

Khmer ladies just love pajamas! Just walk out, whether on the street, the market, malls, pagodas well you can see lots of them wearing pajamas. I’ve never seen any other place with so many pajama clad people roaming around.

Well, that I would say makes Cambodians really unique! All part of the fascinating Cambodian culture.

It’s Ready To Blast Off!

I’ve been thinking, ‘What will I do if I ran out of blogging ideas?’ For a blogger, that is something dreadful and frustrating. And yes, there are times that I am always out of ideas to blog about, especially since I have several blogs to update.

There are times I have in mind to write a post about serious stuff like term life insurance quotes but more often than not I stop myself, coz I keep thinking, duh! stuff like that would not interest anyone, its boring..

Thankfully, as a mom there are a lot more things (some maybe mundane. .) that I could blurb about. One thing I like writing about is my daughter’s advertures and misadvertures and her funny quips. Oh, she does say and do a lot of funny things, some I even forget about, but there sure are things that stand out. Like this one..a word of warning: some ultra sensitive folks might find the topic of ‘poop’ a put off..

On to the story..right now, were on vacation and staying in my parents house in Bicol, Philippines and Chinks have taken to eating a lot and when we arrived she had a hard time following her regular ‘poop’ schedule. I guess the few days of travelling threw her off the routine. But anyway, after two days here, she was in the bathroom trying to err lay her golden eggs without much success.

I figured she was having a hard time so I stayed with her..I’ve been plying her with fluids the past few days to make things easier, but she was still having a hard time. I guess she was getting frustrated that she blurted out, “Mommy, all the things I ate is here in my tummy and not coming out”, but she wouldn’t budge from the toilet seat. And when she was just about to poop, she shouted excitedly, ‘Mommy!!! It’s all ready to blast off!’ I guess, its so like her to describe it as something similar to a space ship being launch in space..

Lol! The joys of having a child..

Waiting for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!!

While a lot of my friends are raving and having mild spasms about Twilight and Eclipse, I’m about to burst with excitement about the soon {how can it be a few more months?? ugh!} to be released Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie. Sure I like the recent vampire trend and it certainly beats reading prototype 37c reviews, and I must confess I’m drawn to the characters simply because Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are awesomely good looking and has amazing chemistry, but it just doesn’t set my imagination and my heart thumping like Harry Potter series. I love both the books and the movie!

Last week, Chinks and I have started watching our DVD collection of Harry Potter starting from the first movie and were now on to the 4th movie. I’m always like this when the new one is about to be shown, I take the time to really refresh my memory and go back to where it began. Weird and obsessive maybe, but heck! that’s the way I am. Don’t be surprised if next week I’ll be blogging about reading the books again, okay?

Anyway, since I’ve been waiting for the 7th and last movie with a bit of bated breath and knowing that the ending has been split into two parts is not about to deter me. Part I is scheduled to be released on November 2010 and Part II on July 2011.

I am attempting to stifle my excitement by just watching the recently released trailers..And I think it’ll be awesome, this series is definitely worth calling – a phenomenon !!

Three Things..

Chinks has been watching a Bratz episode where the girls met a girl genie and she gave each of the Bratz wishes. After watching that she asked me, if I meet a genie and she gives me 3 wishes. What will my wishes be? I asked her what are the kind of wishes allowed. She said in the movie, cannot ask for a lot of money, eternal life or more wishes.

So we settled on three material things I wouldn’t mind having for free. I asked her first what she wants and here’s her list:

(1) a pet dog (hayyy, sowee baby, mommy the genie cannot give you this one..)

(2) a mobile phone (maybe when she’s old enough..)

(3) a ‘real’ laptop (huh!?! kids of today..)

Here’s mine..

(1) a purple camera – I know I can buy this but I’m holding out because of the weight-loss bargain I made myself. But I wouldn’t mind if a genie gave it to me..

(2) a new blogging notebook – I’m getting one soon but if I could get it free why not? In case a benevolent soul is reading this, I want the Lenovo Ideapad S10-3Premium Mini..

(3) one year supply of lotions, creams, and body scrub – I’m not exceedingly vain but I do take care of my skin very well. I drink lots of fluid, eat veggies,cleanse, tone and moisturize regularly. And I’ve also been reading some wrinkle cream reviews just so I could get ahead and prepare for the inevitable.. lol!

Laugh-Inducing Fish Massage in Siem Reap

I heard about this countless times before and I swore I won’t give it a try. But on our first day in Siem Reap, I jumped ahead and gave it a try. That should say something about my conviction eh?

I hope you understood at least a little of the above signage..

I was just so curious as to why this became a popular thing in Siem Reap and I was filled with pity with those little fishes begging to have some dead skin out of my feet. Looking at my unkempt feet gave me the last prompt to give this ‘fish massage’ a try.

And besides the signage says if the fish cannot make me happy I won’t be charged and I’ve also managed to convince Hi-ace to join me. Hehe..This has got to be one of the most unique experiences I had..

They are so hungry..

First, I had my feet washed with warm water, then toweled dry. Then, its time to submerge my feet on the water and feed those fishes. The fishes looked so hungry and fierce that for a minute I got scared. Hi-ace telling me that the fish will probably eat the meat off my feet bones was not helping either, but it’s not like were violating the gulf coast jones act, so I just closed my eyes and plunged my feet in.

please just ignore my humongous feet..

Then I screamed! God, it was so ticklish.. Not painful. More like a thousand fingers tickling your feet. I couldn’t help but laugh like crazy the whole time.

Definitely a recommended and unique experience. Of course, the dead skin is still there. But at least for 20 minutes I could laugh my heart out. And oh! they also give out free drinks =). Chinks got so jealous of us laughing like that so the next day she gave had her own tickle fest too..

Chinks.. she’s complaining why there’s less fish eating her dead skin..

There is No Use Having Regrets…

I was in a hellish mood for the past two days, mainly due to migraine and some things. I’m also on the deciding phase for some things that I need – want to do with myself.

Should I or should I go back to school and complete my Master’s? If I do that, what will I do after I’m done with it? If I go for it, what field do I want to get into? Should I find a regular 8-5 work and be part of the rat race again? If I do that, would I have time for my family and how big an adjustment is that for everyone? Whatever I decide to do, it’s going to have an effect not just on me but also my family. So, I guess you can imagine the dilemmas I’m having right now.

I had to get off and clear my head for awhile and I ended up playing around with Photoshop and some brushes. I miss doing this! I’ve been so caught up with writing, blogging, web site building that I hardly ever took the time anymore to one of my favorite pastimes before – toying around with graphics and vectors. Doing these really revs me up and I end up getting motivated again.

Anyway, here’s what I’ve made. Some wallpapers in 1280 x 1024 sizes. I’m posting it for everyone to use and download for personal use only. Just right click open in a new tab/window then save as.

What do you think? I know it all looks a little girly but well I’m a girl. I should do this more often now. I used to remember I always made personalized photo pages, signatures, invitations for baptism, birthdays,communion invitations, even my own wedding invitation was my own design. I even once thought of doing this professionally but somehow I was sidetracked.

I think its a good idea to start the new year with something fun. So, here’s one post that would definitely go to my fun and offbeat finds. Tada! Another weird Japanese invention – Husband Hunting Bra!

It’s a fact that Japan has an steadily aging population as well as a falling marriage rate so as a campaign drive to make more Japanese aware of these, Japanese lingerie maker, Triumph came out with this unusual invention.

This weird underwear features a timer between the cups representing the wearer’s biological clock. It is set to count down to the deadline set for marriage. Once the woman finds her mate and receives an engagement ring, she inserts the ring into the slot above the clock. The countdown stops and a wedding march tune begins. More of that @ Zimbio

Haha! Now, would I wear that if I were single? Maybe not. Or maybe I should try to get my single and ‘its getting too late for marriage’ friends to get one..

I can’t believe time really passes by so fast! It seems just a few months ago that I was writing all about my 2009 new year’s resolutions and now its 2010 already! Well almost.. A couple more hours to go.

Counting Down to New Year 2010!

Makes me wonder and look back on how 2009 was for me. Well, it has been a year of change, of big adjustments. I had my plate full with coping with moving from the Philippines and adjusting to living in Phnom Penh. So, I guess I did a lot more than contemplate on the size of my navel or which acne treatments are the best. Haha! I actually did lots of work, preparing sites I’m all set to launch mid-2010 since I’ve decided to go full-time into my online money making endeavors.

As expected things are still slow, but that’s what I would expect when you are still starting out. I’m also a bit behind schedule since we’ve also done a bit of traveling, the past two months I also saw myself succumbing to viruses here and there, plus I also have to squeeze in time for housework and more time with Chinks playing and tutoring.

Overall, it has been a pleasant year. Hi-ace has been so busy which is something I had to adjust to, not always having him do my bidding . We’re also still fixing our place, preparing things so we could fully renovate our home in the next two years. The only thing I’m sad about is that, yep! I failed to lose a gazillion pounds again! LOl! I should probably give up this goal huh? But it has been on my to-do list for the past 4 years and I’m not getting any result..

With this things in mind I was a bit curious about what 2010 has in store for me. So, just in the spirit of fun (I’m not really a great believer of these..) I checked out my 2010 horoscope (well it was actually staring right in my face on my Yahoo homepage). So here’s what it has to say..

“Mommy, a Christmas tree for you and Dad. I made that! The drawings. Teacher just helped me cut..”

Little things like these make having kids all the more worth it…This is definitely the best Christmas surprise I got this year..

Enough Already..

It’s now getting irritating, and I think enough is enough already. I’m simply posting my thoughts about this Tiger Woods issue.. It’s getting old really and grrr! can we just move on please. I promised myself I will mention his name just once because it has been overused already these past few weeks that seeing his face, hearing or reading his name is enough to make make me want to puke already. So from here on, I’ll be calling him Pusang Kahoy (in Filipino/Tagalog, pusa = cat, and kahoy = tree).

Pusang Kahoy have made an a** of himself and we had been subjected to every facet and crevice of his story of extra marital affairs. The media could be really overboard sometimes. Ok, granted he is a celebrity, hence a public figure. But really, knowing he has committed numerous indiscretions can be interesting to some but Hello! reading this on the news every day for how many weeks already is just grrrhhh! I’m not really that interested now on how many women he bedded or where, when and whatelse has been going on. I think its time we give them a break, you know.

I’m not condoning his unfaithfulness and my heart really just goes out to his wife and children. If I was Pusang Kahoy’s wife, I’d probably hit him where he couldn’t go after other women anymore and where he wouldn’t even be able to hold any golf clubs. But in any case, I think Pusang Kahoy’s wife is handling it really well. And now that he has announced his intention to take a break from golf and well, focus on his family, it’s now time to let the issue rest. But the media I guess, has no plans of doing so, if I were them, I’d consider cross country moving, somewhere the paparazzi cannot follow.

I doubt this incessant coverage of Pusang Kahoy is going to stop anytime soon, but at least I got to say my piece! Enough is enough and move on to better topics..

I’m getting a little hooked on questions memes. For one, I don’t have to think much hehe..And I could simply write the truth and voila! I have a post..

Anyway, here’s an interesting one I found somewhere. Some questions sounds like you’re in a beauty contest or something lol! I won’t be tagging anyone but if you find the questions interesting, fee free to grab it and answer. I’d love to read your answers to this too.

If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone?

No. I’d rather not. Why should I allow someone be on agony knowing I’ll be dead? On the other hand, if there is someone who hates me really badly and wants to see me die, I’ll probably tell them, at least somebody will be happy I won’t be around. Although, no one has come to hate me that much yet.

If a new medicine were developed that would cure arthritis but cause a fatal reaction in 1 percent of those who took it, would you want it to be released to the public?

All things have their bad sides and I guess as long as there is an explicit warning of its possible fatal effects, why not if it could save lives too?

If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the body or the mind of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?

I would want to retain my 30-year old MIND. Dyusko! I’m trying to rid myself of excess fats nga so I wouldn’t want to have this body for the next 60 years of my life. And besides, even if I had a to-kill for body, what use would it be if I have a useless mind?

If at birth you could select the profession your child would eventually pursue, would you do so?

No way. I love what I’m doing now and I’d like my child to have the same happy experience in finding whatever profession she can be happy with. There are lots of people earning lots of moolah but they are unhappy. I’d much rather settle for something that can earn me just a decent income and enjoying it too rather than something that can earn me millions and make working daily an excruciating experience. So, I’d want my child make her own choices.

If you knew there would be a nuclear war in one week, what would do? (you can’t stop it)

I could do two things. One is to figure out how to survive it. I also have to learn, if I survive it how would it affect me? I mean, would I be grossly disfigured or what? If I’ll survive with only my torso intact, I think I’d much prefer not to survive. The second thing, I’d do is party like there is no tomorrow. Do happy things, be with family.

Would you accept twenty years of extraordinary happiness and fulfillment if it meant you had to die at the end of the period?

Nope. Disappointments, sad things, well, I think these make life more special. Not that I like being unhappy, its simply like, to appreciate happiness you got to experience some sadness. I’d much rather go through life with its regular ups and downs. If there is happiness all the time, how could I even appreciate it if I don’t know what sadness feels like?

If the person you were engaged to marry had an accident and became a paraplegic, would you go through with the marriage or back out of it?

Yes I would. When I commit, I commit. It would take a lot more than that to stop me from marrying someone I love.

Someone very close to you is in pain, paralyzed, and will die in a month. They beg you to give them poison so they that they can die. Would you?

I probably would. I can’t stand anyone I love suffer and if I was the one suffering I’d expect my loved ones to do the same. I know some are against this but I’d much rather see them in peace than see them in too much pain.

Given the choice of anyone in the world, who would you want as your dinner guest? as a close friend? as a lover?

Close friend? My college buddies, Yese and Tins. We still are in touch but I just wish we are geographically close to each other. I haven’t seen both of them in years so I’d want to have them for dinner. As a lover? I always have one at dinner (Hi-ace) but since these are all hypothetical and I’m pretty sure Hi-ace is not looking over my shoulders right now and would unlikely read this (he’s awfully busy..), so I’d like to have Gong Yoo (that hot Korean actor!) or Jude Law (my idea of an ultimate hunk) for dinner.

What is the worst psychological torture you can imagine suffering? (it cannot involve any physical harm to you)?

Not having any means of communication and not having a computer, mobile phone and internet connection. Seriously, this would make me go nuts! Sure you can say I’m a total geek and I don’t even mind or care.

You and a person you love deeply are placed in separate rooms with a button next to each of you. You know that you will both be killed unless one of you presses the button before 60 minutes pass; furthermore, the first to press the button will save the other person, but will immediately be killed. What do you think you would do?

Arrggh! What kind of questions are these anyhow? Ok since I started this.. Well, I’d probably figure out first if there is any way we could both get out of there alive. It’s worth a try anyway. If there is no way, then I’d press my button.

Would you be willing to go to a slaughterhouse and kill a cow?

If I have absolutely no choice or there is a phone check for me to cash out with maybe nine zeros on it . But seriously, just as I could just pay someone to mow the lawn, fix the gutter, I’d really prefer it if somebody else was doing the slaughtering. Or maybe I’d turn vegetarian..

For $20,000 would you go for 3 months without washing, brushing your teeth, and using deodorant? Assume you could not explain your reasons to anyone, and there would be no long-term effect on your career. (you are not choosing one, you would have to go without all three).

Ew! No sorry. I’d find other ways to earn that but please I really can’t stand not washing, brushing or using a deo for even a day. And that’s 3 months! It’ll surely be the end of me.

Which of these restrictions could you best tolerate: leaving the country permanently or never leaving the state in which you now live?

Leaving the country permanently. That is if and only if I will leave and go back to the Philippines. I love it here in Phnom Penh, but if I’ve got no choice but to leave, then …

If you could choose the sex and physical appearance of your soon-to-be-born child, would you do it?

No. My genes are fine as it is. No use meddling with it. And besides, Chinks turned out to be more wonderful than I’ve ever imagined. Hi-ace and I must be a good genetic match hehe.

If your friends and acquaintances were willing to bluntly tell you what they really think of you, would you want them to?

What?? They usually tell me what is wrong with me, I mean my friends. They constantly tell me I need to lose weight which is more often than I really want..

Would it disturb you much if, upon your death, your body were simply thrown into the woods and left to rot?

No. Really. Funerals are expensive and besides I’m dead so I couldn’t even give a hoot! I’d much prefer it if I be cremated or if that is still expensive well they can just throw me over a ravine.

Would you like to know the precise date of your death?

No. I’d much prefer that to be a surprise. Knowing that leaves the excitement out.

Would you be willing to give up all television for the next 5 years if it would induce someone to provide for 1,000 starving children in Indonesia?

I’m sure the time I spend watching TV would not really induce anyone to do such an altruistic mission since I am a nobody. But since the question has been asked, well, I don’t really watch much TV so stopping TV watching for the next 5 years would not really be difficult for me.

I Was With the Coffee Prince..

When I was marooned, I was with the Coffee Prince. You’d think I was in a deserted island or something. Lol! Well, I did mention that I got flu last week so I had to stay much of the time indoors. I was really bored the first day and this is compounded by being too weak to do anything much. I would have like to scrub the floors, fill out our stainless steel drums or washed laundry or experiment with some new recipes but since I was running high fever, I was told (commanded!) to just take it easy.

I was almost freaking out coz I was running out of things to do. I was done reading the Princess Diaries book series by Meg Cabot. Well, I know this are like for teens and early 20′s type of book but this is one of my favorite “feel good”, laugh out loud books. I actually finished reading volumes 1-10 (except for the half-books). I’m becoming a huge fan of Meg Cabot’s and I’m now looking for her other titles like Big Boned and Queen of Babble Gets Hitched..

I tried reading Jonathan Kellerman’s (another one of my faves) Compulsion, but the text was too small and my eyes were getting bleary and besides crime/psycho thriller books doesn’t do much for me whenever I’m sick.

So then I checked out our DVD packs. CSI NY and Las Vegas was out. I watched all episodes already except for the current airing ones. CSI Miami was not an option, coz I David Caruso’s (Horatio Caine) sunglasses just rubs me the wrong way. I decided to check out some Korean dramas. These I watch when I am really in a melancholic mood. For one I find some of their plots repetitive, some really out of this world, with some slapstick comedy added to the mix, but strange thing I do enjoy them sometimes.

Anyway, I picked Coffee Prince and that’s what I spent about 4 days watching. I watched this series a few times already but I never tire of it.. Here some reasons (aside from my obvious caffeine addiction):

I love its soundtrack! That’s me, if a series has a boring soundtrack, I just can’t seem to stick to it. It’s one of my requirements..hehe.
The plot is unique (compared to other cheesy Korean dramas..). Although there is that always present ‘rich-guys-family-not-approving’ of the girl theme again, but this one doesn’t over do it.
Yahoo! This time no one has terminal illness here. (Though the grandma was sick but I was glad the story didn’t revolve on that!).
Great acting from both the leads. When I first watched this, I was a skeptical because I always have an image of Yoon Eun Hye as a fashionista and she’s always so stylish. But she did very well in her role as a tomboyish girl.
The chemistry among the supporting cast was just awesome. They looked so comfortable with each other that its not hard to believe they are really friends.
Crying scenes are kept to a minimum. Yes! And where there are scenes with crying , it was done just right.
Lots of funny, goofy scenes..The characters were amusing and there was equal treatment of them.
The series takes on the topic of homosexuality, which is a sensitive topic considering much of Asia is very conservative. But then again its one of the intriguing twists that makes this drama one of the most compelling Korean series I’ve watched (and I’ve watched tons already..)
And OK, I watched this mostly to ogle Gong Yoo. I swear, I told Hi-ace if we have a second baby, I’ll put up posters of him around the room so I could see him always. (Of course, Hi-ace laughs at me, knowing I am a lunatic!). Can you blame me for drooling over this guy?

I really was with the Coffee Prince haha. I know I sound delusional , but if you’re wanting to watch some Korean dramas, Coffee Prince is highly recommended.

CSI Blah Blah’s

I love CSI. The show I mean. When I was a kid I wanted to be a scientist. I was fascinated with science and this show just gives me the kicks. I think forensics is a very interesting field and I would have wanted a career out of it except that blood and dead bodies grosses me out. What fascinates me more about the show is the human element, what goes on and the behind the scenes of crimes.

When it comes to books I love thrillers, stories with detectives, mysteries, legal whatchamacallits. So it was just so natural for me to get hooked to CSI. But I still play favorites. Of all the three CSI shows, I prefer CSI Las Vegas and CSI New York. I even have my own DVD collection of CSI Las Vegas and NY so I get to watch reruns anytime I want to.

My fave CSI characters?

: CSI’s Gil Grissom

Gil Grissom in CSI Las Vegas. Too bad he’s not on the show anymore. I love William Petersen playing the brilliant yet socially awkward CSI Supervisor. And I can’t seem to get over his love for insects. I mean he races cockroaches during his Entymology seminars and his office is just full of those bugs he collects. Weird but totally lovable character. I also like the way Grissom and Sarah Sidle’s romance was played out. I mean it was subtle, wasn’t overboard so the main focus of the show was not overshadowed. I just wish he didn’t get burned out since his character was really pivotal in the show but then again Petersen has been playing Grissom for 8 years so I guess he was ready to move on..

: CSI’s Catherine Willows

Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) comes as my second favorite character in CSI Las Vegas. She’s hot, feisty, ambitious yet very loyal to her colleagues and her friends. She’s not your usual beautiful lady and make no mistake about thinking of her as a dumb bimbo since she’s also a very talented CSI. She used to work as an exotic dancer to pay her way to college.She’s also better at dealing with people and politics than Grissom so she balances Grissom’s lack of tact. She’s also one of the reasons I’m still looking forward to the new CSI Las Vegas seasons.

: CSI’s Greg Sanders

I also likes Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda). The lab DNA technician, a genius turned field CSI, provider of comic relief. His one liners are really something to look forward to and while he is portrayed as a brilliant yet bumbling scientist he also has issues to deal with making his character development something to watch out for.

: CSI NY’s Danny Messer

As for CSI New York, I love Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo)! I mean who wouldn’t? His character is the most complex among all the CSI’s and he is also played excellently by Giovinazzo. He’s also the show’s eye candy together with Flack. Messer grew up in the streets of New York, in a family constantly under police surveillance due to its connections with the mafia. But he got over all that, graduated top of his class at the police academy and later moved on to join Mac Taylor’s CSI New York team. So you’d imagine he probably the toughest among all of them yet oddly enough Danny Messer is the most emotional and emphatic. What I just don’t like is his “romance” with Lindsay Monroe simply because the two of them don’t share much chemistry and looks really forced plus unlike the Grissom-Sidle CSI Las Vegas romance, Messer-Monroe tandem was just so “in your face” and got too overboard to the point that it overshadowed some of the characters real issues. Nonetheless, I’m still rooting for Danny Messer and I look forward to what happens to him in the upcoming season.

: CSI NY’s Stella Bonasera

Stella Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes) is another character in CSI NY that I find myself favoring. Much like Catherine Willows in Vegas, she’s also a strong character, loyal, fair, and has a strong sense of leadership. She also has the tendency to get drawn to abusive men like her ex-boyfriend who she eventually killed for self-defense. She also shares a genuine friendship with her boss Mac Taylor and she is the one person who has the guts to defy Taylor when needed.

: CSI NY’s Det. Don Flack

CSI NY eye candy – Detective Don Flack (Eddie Cahill). I could just like him simply for his looks but then again he has lots of things going for him too. He has the best one-liners and the way he delivers them is just awesome. He has great on screen rapport with Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo) and scenes with these two are never boring to watch. He’s was also romancing Detective Angell and they have fabulous chemistry its just too bad she died on the line of duty. I think they were the best looking CSi couple among the three CSI shows.

: CSI NY’s Adam Ross

Adam Ross (A. J. Buckley), lab technician is another favorite. Almost similar to Greg Sanders’ character in CSI Las Vegas – a comical genius. The diff though is that, while Sanders is a klutz around girls, Adam Buckley though a bit awkward, but still quite popular with girls. He even dated a Suicide Girl and that’s saying a lot. I always look forward to his antics and how the ever strict Mac Taylor reacts to them.

I have fun too with CSI Miami but its not really a favorite. The Miami franchise had episodes just as good as the other two CSI’s but what kills it for me is Horation Caine’s character. He’s simply portrayed as something like a superhero and besides I find his over use of sunglasses really funny to the point that I count how many times he removes his glasses each episode. Enough to make me wish I could fly there, look for cheap hotels miami, and ask David Caruso what’s up with his sunglasses. Except that hubby tells me that of course, they don’t film that in Miami.
