Pinaywife’s American Idol Addiction

Posted by on Mar 8, 2008 in Fun, Offbeat, Trendy Etc. | 5 comments

No – this isn’t an entertainment blog but I can stop myself from posting it. :) my excuse is well, since this is a blog about my life and lifestyle,so entertainment (American Idol) is so much a part of that right now! I’m not really into watching too much TV coz I get bored so easily. The truth is I usually get more entertained by TV ads than regular programs. But the ongoing American Idol is just too exciting for me to pass up. Me and my family is rooting for Filipina Ramiele Malubay and David Archueta.

I just love Ramiele’s vocal range. She is simply a superb singer. Let’s just pray she’d be consistent till the end and with the support of Pinoy’s she has a really big chance at the top win. Some would say we root for her just because she’s Pinoy, but what the heck, the girl is a power belter and her mannerisms are cute!

David Archueta too is my other favorite. He’s got charisma, the looks, the voice. The total package..

Here’s my fave clips of Ramiele and David.

What does your home say about you?

A house that does not have one worn, comfy chair in it is soulless. ~May Sarton

For a home, we should make sure that we are filling it up with furnishings that are true reflections of ourselves, meaning items that we really need and like instead of just random stuff. It’s never too great to buy a furnishing just because somebody else liked it. Choose things that would best suit you, your lifestyle and something that makes you feel comfortable.

I saw this style quiz on a site and tried it for myself and discover my home style profile..Results are pretty interesting..

· Home is a place not only of strong affections, but of entire unreserve; it is life’s undress rehearsal, its backroom, its dressing room. ~Harriet Beecher Stowe

· Home is a name, a word, it is a strong one; stronger than magician ever spoke, or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration. ~Charles Dickens

· Home is the one place in all this world where hearts are sure of each other. It is the place of confidence. It is the place where we tear off that mask of guarded and suspicious coldness which the world forces us to wear in self-defense, and where we pour out the unreserved communications of full and confiding hearts. It is the spot where expressions of tenderness gush out without any sensation of awkwardness and without any dread of ridicule. ~Frederick W. Robertson

Best Dressed for 2008 Oscar Awards

Posted by on Mar 1, 2008 in Fun, Offbeat, Trendy Etc. | 1 comment

More often than not instead of looking out for the winners I find myself watching out more for fashion and styles during Hollywood awards nights. There are a lot of so so’s but there’s a handful of stars who simply standout.. It’s not just the gowns, it’s also the make-up, hairstyle, accessories.. the overall style.

Here’s my picks for the Best Dressed List for the 2008 Academy Awards.

CAMERON DIAZ

In a pale pink Dior by John Galliano bustier gown, Bulgari jewels, Roger Vivier clutch and minimal makeup. She looks simply cool and playful. Love the details of the gown.

JENNIFER GARNER

In a black silk taffeta Oscar de la Renta fishtail gown, major Van Cleef & Arpels diamonds, Roger Vivier clutch. I’m not a big fan of her hairstyle it looks a bit messy for her gown.

ANNE HATHAWAY

A modern goddess in her flowered and draped red Marchesa gown, Harry Winston diamonds and sleek ponytail. There is just something about her that screams “glamour”.

JESSICA ALBA

The lovely mom-to-be glows in her deep-purple feathered Marchesa gown and Cartier diamonds.

CATE BLANCHETT

The expectant double-nominee – for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress – is fashion-forward in a deep blue satin Dries Van Noten gown, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a Roger Vivier clutch.

This is a list compiled by Time..People are now increasingly spending time online and being busy with work and a lot of personal commitments leaves most people with less and less time. I think these sites were selected based on the use and convenience it provides most people. I’ve

  1. Amazon.com – from an online bookstore to a mega-retailer. Who hasn’t heard of Amazon? It is a great place to shop for anything and everything.
  2. BBC.co.uk – World News. Sports. Radio. Articles and audio in 33 languages. PBS.org is content rich too; episodes of the series Expose: America’s Investigative Reports can be viewed even before its aired on TV.
  3. Citysearch.com- Helps steer you to the right restaurants, bars, nightclubs, hotels and spas in dozens of cities, with editors’ picks and user reviews, and a Yellow Pages directory that includes shops and other services.
  4. Craigslist.org – Free classified ads in every category, organized by locale.
  5. Del.icio.us – An immensely popular place to share your favorite Web links and see what other people are bookmarking. Search the site by keyword (each link is tagged with descriptors both general and specific), create your own list of favorites to share with everybody else, or add to an existing collection. It’s all about the tags.
  6. Digg.com – The leader in social news, where users determine what’s important and interesting by submitting it, “digging” it and posting a comment.
  7. Ebay.com – The online auction powerhouse sells one car every minute on eBay Motors; at StubHub, which eBay acquired in February, you can buy tickets baseball games, Broadway shows, concerts and other events. And the charity auctions at eBay Giving Works have helped buyers and sellers raise $100 million for more than 10,000 nonprofit organizations since the program started in November 2003. Also, check out the eBay Wiki to read about —or chime in on — all things eBay.
  8. ESPN.com – this site’s got everything a sports fanatic needs.
  9. Facebook.com - This social network is not as popular as MySpace, but it also hasn’t been corrupted by marketers and fake friends. Once available to students only, Facebook has opened its doors everyone and has made dozens of third-party applications available for members to use on their pages, from iLike (music sharing) to Graffiti (lets you draw on your friends’ profiles) to Flixster (movie reviews) to Wis.dm (poll your friends!).
  10. FactCheck.org – The Annenberg Political Fact Check, a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania, is an independent, nonpartisan effort to cut through the routine spin and dissembling of politicians and other public figures. Staff writers check speeches, TV ads, news releases and other public statements for accuracy, and provide clarification and context.
  11. Flickr.com – More than half a billion images are now posted on Flickr, a superbly designed sharing platform and social network for photo enthusiasts.
  12. Google.com – The world’s leading Web search engine.
