Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Trailer

Posted by on Jul 17, 2009 in Fun, Offbeat, Trendy Etc. | 2 comments

I’m a big Harry Potter fan. I’ve got the books, I watched the films and now I’m excited for the next movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I’m a bit frustrated though coz there aren’t any cinemas here in Phnom Penh showing Hollywood movies. Anyway, I just have to find a way to watch it once it comes out..

Here’s a brief synopsis of Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince from Fandango,

Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates! And then there’s Hermione, simmering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings.

Fab Find: FlatShare Fridge

Posted by on Jul 6, 2009 in Fun, Offbeat, Trendy Etc. | 0 comments

Found this awesome innovation – Flatshare Fridge! Perfect for warring roommates. This was designed by Stefan Buchberger and was one of nine finalists out of more than 600 entries from 49 countries in the Electrolux Design Lab 2008 competition.

Stefan Buchberger, a design student at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria shares that the idea grew out of a semester-long theme about keeping personal space clean and tidy.

The fridge consists of a base station and up to four stackable modules. The modules allow each individual user to have his or her own refrigerator space and can be customized with various colorful skins as well as with add-ons like a bottle opener or a whiteboard.

Brilliant isn’t it? Another thing I like about aside from its functionality is that it is designed with easy transport in mind. If you’re living in a flat, of course, it’ll only be a matter of time before you move again, so making it easily transported is a great plus.

This is really impressive. All of these were created using old concrete blocks, baby food jars and soup tins. Now that is recycling! And passion as well as creativity… I wish I could be half as creative lol!

French artist, Gerard Brion, spent 15 years crafting landmarks in France. This creative artist created a miniature Paris out of rubbish in his flower beds. Included in his miniatures are the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Sacre Coeur.

I’m Getting Hooked on Drawing Kawaii Characters

Posted by on Feb 15, 2009 in Fun, Offbeat, Trendy Etc., Lifestyle + More, Random Thoughts | 2 comments

My daughter has been asking me to draw some cute characters for her to color, cutout, and paste on her kiddie scrapbook so I ended up downloading Inkscape and Gimp to get started on vector graphics. I got so hooked that I ended up reading the guides on how to make your own graphics.

I love Japanese cutesy drawings. They are just so “kawaii” and I tried my hand at making a cute little dollie for my new site, Pinkchopsticks. I’m calling her Pink Sushi and here she is..

How’d you like it? She’ll be my icon for my latest blog, Pinkchopsticks.info. I’m getting hooked on illustrating new characters and I’ll be posting some of my work sometime soon..

2009 Year of the Ox

I guess everyone has been pretty busy with the new year celebrations but not enough to forget to think how the year 2009 will be. In the Chinese calendar, 2009 is the year of the Ox.

There are skeptics out there about the accuracy of prediction but hey!, it’s still great at least to know what “might” happen and to be prepared if not so good things are in store.

So, how will the Year of the OX be for us, ordinary folks? First, what are the characteristics of the ox. They appear to be slow and steady, yet they are hardworking, very conventional organizer who wants to put everything in order and turn chaos into reason. Chinese astrologers believe the Ox is just we need to clean up the clutter and chaos the previous year of the rat has made.

The ox should never be underestimated. This is the year for all of us to work hard as it pays and laziness does not. There is no room for anyone looking for a free ride this year. It is the year to get your life on track, to plan and budget for you future, and it will all lessen your stress for the next year as well as secure your position. Rules and tradition will also play an important role this year of the Ox.

Eugenia Last‘s advice, “You must work hard and gain respect for your actions if you want to do well during the year of the Ox. The Ox doesn’t care for sob stories or those looking for a handout. There is nothing less appealing to an Ox than someone wanting his or her way paid for.” So, remember, hardwork is the by-word for the year of the Ox. The Ox calls for simplicity, patience and the ability to work as one.

Here’s what’s in store for each zodiac..These are just excerpts, visit Toronto Sun for more.
