With the advent of mobile phones I see less and less phone booths around and I think that’s sad coz some phone booths aside from serving its functions are also works of art. I’ve compiled a lot of photos of unique, creative and interesting phone booths from around the world (a lot of them from Japan :P ) and here’s my 32 favorites..

BTW, if you have photos of other interesting phone booths, feel free to leave this post a comment with photo links so we can check it out.

Telephone Tree

The “Telephone Tree” is an environmental art installation gone bad. When Barry Robinson, 65, found three iconic red telephone booths in a British dump, he decided to take them home and recycle them for an eco art project. He fastened all three phone booths, in their entirety, to a three-pronged 20 foot metal girder, creating a bright red, tree-like structure complete with patriotic flags.

He was heralded for his green initiative… until it became a public eyesore when he plunked it on a field in Hurley, Warwickshire.
