More often than not instead of looking out for the winners I find myself watching out more for fashion and styles during Hollywood awards nights. There are a lot of so so’s but there’s a handful of stars who simply standout.. It’s not just the gowns, it’s also the make-up, hairstyle, accessories.. the overall style.

Here’s my picks for the Best Dressed List for the 2008 Academy Awards.

CAMERON DIAZ

In a pale pink Dior by John Galliano bustier gown, Bulgari jewels, Roger Vivier clutch and minimal makeup. She looks simply cool and playful. Love the details of the gown.

JENNIFER GARNER

In a black silk taffeta Oscar de la Renta fishtail gown, major Van Cleef & Arpels diamonds, Roger Vivier clutch. I’m not a big fan of her hairstyle it looks a bit messy for her gown.

ANNE HATHAWAY

A modern goddess in her flowered and draped red Marchesa gown, Harry Winston diamonds and sleek ponytail. There is just something about her that screams “glamour”.

JESSICA ALBA

The lovely mom-to-be glows in her deep-purple feathered Marchesa gown and Cartier diamonds.

CATE BLANCHETT

The expectant double-nominee – for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress – is fashion-forward in a deep blue satin Dries Van Noten gown, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a Roger Vivier clutch.

PENÉLOPE CRUZ

The always-glamorous star in a Chanel Haute Couture navy feather embroidered gown – designed by Karl Lagerfeld just for her, no less! – accessorized with a Roger Vivier clutch and Chopard diamonds.

RENÉE ZELLWEGER

Hand embroidered Carolina Herrera gown and Cartier jewels. I think this gown is really lovely..

KATHERINE HEIGL

The newlywed is simply stunning in her crimson silk georgette Escada column gown, Ryan Ryan jewels and Jimmy Choo shoes and clutch. Great gown, great body..

AMY ADAMS

Emerald green strapless Proenza Schouler gown and Fred Leighton diamonds. Lovely gown and fab accessories!

LAURA LINNEY

The Best Actress nominee is elegant in a midnight silk bustle-back Michael Kors gown, dramatic Cathy Waterman jewels and Ferragamo bag and heels.

AMY RYAN

The Best Supporting Actress is classic in a one-shouldered navy Calvin Klein column gown and H. Stern diamond earrings and bracelet.

HEIDI KLUM

The Project Runway host goes for high drama in a Haute Couture by John Galliano gown and Heidi Klum for Mouawad jewels. Definitely stunning!
