It’s scorching hot here in Phnom Penh. Really! These days I’d much rather stay indoors coz I can’t cope with the extreme humidity outside. Chinks has been morose lately too and yesterday she had a bit of a fever. I’m not the type who likes staying indoors all day long but right now its fine as I have some things to occupy me. Aside from blogging and some web activities, I got my hands pretty occupied learning a new craft – crocheting!
I talked about this in my previous post – Learning a New Craft, and the first time was really tough. Seriously, my fingers ached trying to produce something out of that darn yarn! This challenged me more to try again, so for the past few days, I’ve been carefully trying to learn the very basics and practicing. Instead of my usual dose of researching article topics like amica auto insurance review, I trudged around the net looking for some very basic patterns. After maybe two days of trying to make something out of those yarns, I finally coughed out something resembling at least something..It’s actually a glass coaster using all just single crochets..
Hi-ace is being supportive too (haha or maybe he’s being tolerant..) about my current ‘occupation’ with crocheting. He likes watching what I am doing, unfortunately he has the habit of commenting about this and that. What colors looks best, where to put the hook etc. Hmmp, as if he knows how to crochet. He asks me everyday how come it takes me ages to finish one crochet piece. So I made a bet with him, if I manage to learn how to crochet expertly within the year, I’ll make him a halter top and he’ll wear it. Haha he gamely said yes he would. Now I think I have some more motivating factor..
Anyway, I managed to make a flower crochet applique yesterday. Chinks liked it and asked if I could make her a bracelet using the flower. So I fashioned a small thin strap, crochet too attached it to the flower and at one end sewed a button for fastening..
For now I’ll be learning mostly crochet appliques because I want to use it as embellishments for future crafting projects… Lol! Living in Phnom Penh is bringing out the creative side of me I think..More later..

I love your coaster and Chinks’ bracelet!
I had aches and pains in the beginning but it’s all worth it when you see your finished product. I see that you have a different yarn color now — where did you get it? In the same yarn store at O’Russei? I want a mercerized cotton yarn because it makes for better flowers and doilies e…
Kayni, many thanks =)
Z,thanks. i have found another shop in O’Russei (haha with a lot friendlier seller). its just on another aisle after the place we bought the yarns. They also have those yarns na medyo tattered yung parang may fringes and when you touch its parang plasticky (word ba ito lol!) and may iba pa syang sizes.
Punta tau ulit one time.. At akoy talagang adik na..
