One of the things I enjoyed most when I was pregnant with my child is shopping! It wasn’t a chore for me and I enjoyed picking the right stuff for my daughter plus I get to walk around and exercise. I took a lot of time and effort to choose the right pushchair, crib, cots, playpens, clothing and other accessories for my baby that would best suit my baby, our lifestyle and since I intended to use it frequently it had to be of top quality and at a good price.
Here’s some tips I could offer for mom-to-be’s when shopping for baby pushchairs and prams.
- Decide what type of pushchair you need. When I checked out the stores, I was really amazed at the wide selections available. There are single, double, triple.. Your decision would depend on the number of children who will use it.
- If you will use one for travel and you want lightweight and easy to carry stroller, you may want to check out umbrella type. This type of pushchair usually do not have much storage area for your baby bag or cups.
- For regular sized pushchairs you can also find lightweight choices if storage is a must. Most regular sized strollers have extra seat padding plus storage underneath and place for baby cups.
- If you plan to use the stroller for long walks, do check out the tires. Air filled ones are the best since they work as shock absorbers too.
- Test it. Is it easy to move around? Try folding it too. Can it be folded easily or do you need several hands to fold and unfold it. Go for the one that you can manage on your own especially if you will use public transportation.
- Consider the size of the folded pushchair. Will it fit your car? If you will bring it on travel, is it convenient for you to lug it around?
- Double check the straps, the wheels, the brakes, everything. Your child’s safety should be the highest priority.
- Reclining pushchairs for babies who cannot sit up yet and this feature is also great since small children fall asleep at odd times, With the reclining feature the baby could lie down and have a good sleep while you’re doing your shopping.
- If you’re buying it for a newborn you might want to consider getting a pram. Prams are almost the same as strollers or pushchairs but it has the added functionality of allowing the baby to lie flat, with a movable push bar so you have the option to have your baby facing you.
- Canvass and compare prices. Branded items are nice but buy the one with features, accessories and functionality that you need and will use the most.
Choosing the right one would be an investment. I took time in selecting one for my daughter and after several years of using it frequently, her stroller is still working well and still good enough to use.

Thanks for sharing. Those are really good consideration. I just want to point out sometimes if you buy brand name gears for higher price, they may have a higher resale value too. SO the price difference may not be as much.
My wife will surely like this tips for baby pushchairs and prams. Thanks. You are having a very beautiful experience….even in shopping….Thant’s really great!
Anna, I agree with higher resale value. Thanks
