A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.
~Washington Irving

One of my favorite quotes by Washington Irving. When I became a mom myself five years ago, motherhood and my relationship with my Ma took on a different level and meaning for me. I was not really rebellious but I did my share of giving my mother something to worry about.
Whenever I am in a not-so-obedient mood during my teenage years, I would use the excuse of my mom being so busy to spend time with us. You see, Ma was a career woman but she still managed to bring us up well and that is something I admire and love about her.
Now I understand better. Most mom’s now have work, even those stay at home mom’s usually have sidelines of home businesses to augment the families income. Those demands at times lead us to spending lesser quality time with our children. I am guilty of that at times and though I never neglected my child, I still feel I should spend more time with her.
There are lots of things I still want to do with and for my child, I have the best advices and guidance from my mom. Motherhood requires a lot of hardwork, prayers, and patience. But I do hope I would be a good mother , like Ma..
For her endless love and sacrifice for us, her children, Thank You Ma and Happy Mother’s Day!
