Last night, my husband teased my I was growing lines already. I literally shrieked and ran across the room and checked out my face on the mirror. That made him roll with laughter! He probably knows he married a girl who doesn’t know how to put makeup but is nonetheless vain. I spent the next 30 minutes deciding if I should get myself a wrinkle cream. Then I realized I must be mad! Lol! Thank God, I didn’t see any lines..
Geez! I’m already 30 and I feel like my youth is slipping by haha! I take care of my skin yet aging is something one cannot prevent. People are really concerned about it and I sincerely congratulate the cosmetics industry for creating the frenzy about “anti-aging skin care”. Most of the time, marketing hype for these companies makes you think that aging or wrinkles can be vanquished with some magic potion.
I think bracing for aging skin is all about discipline. The earlier you start taking care of your skin, the better you will look when you age. Here some great anti-aging skin care tips I got from my mom (who has fabulous skin at age 60!):
- Practice healthy eating. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables will provide fiber and lots of water and refreshing effect on our body. A balanced diet is really key to having proper body metabolism. Avoid fatty and oily foods because they lack nutrients and they also lead to having weight problems as well as aids the aging process.
- Get enough sleep, exercise and minimize stress. Get rid of stress with a relaxing bath, aromatherapy and generally thinking positive.
- Water, water, water. Drink lots of it!
- Regular exercise will tone the muscles and would improve the skin’s elasticity preventing sagging. Its also a great cleanser as it drives away toxins by way of sweat.
- Avoid using too much chemicals on the skin. Better options are natural and organic skin care products. Too much and harsh applications of skin care products can also be harmful.
- For skin disorders, best seek medical advice rather than ignoring it or treating it yourself.
- Vitamin C based skin care products are also helpful in caring for aging skin.
- Protect the skin against UV radiation. Use sunscreen lotion when going out and don’t stay too exposed to the sun for long periods of time.
