I’m posting this a day later than the Earth Day, but then I also think that taking care of nature is not just a one day celebration, it should be an everyday activity. As a mom, I am always conscious of what kind of environment we are leaving to our children. Its a monumental task to restore what we have taken from nature. How can I help? I’ve always been asking myself that question. I believe we all should start with ourselves, our families. I’m serious about garbage segregation and recycling in our home, I’m teaching my child proper trash disposal and I know there are more things I can start doing. I know its a very small step, yet however small, when aggregated it could amount to big results.

We should live everyday thinking that its our responsibility to take care of our environment. When I watched the news yesterday, they were cleaning Manila Bay. It was truly a disgusting sight. They wouldn’t be cleaning that if people would be more disciplined. The small MMDA reminder along Roxas Boulevard sprang to my mind. “Munting Basura Ibulsa Muna (Small Trash Keep it in Your Pocket First) – some would say its funny, nonsense. But it can be a big step if majority of people would take it to heart. Would it be so much to keep first that candy wrapper or plastic bag and dispose of it properly when we get home?

Enough said. Here’s a photo I’ve found in my email and it speaks to me about Mother Earth…

We should all do our part. Let’s make everyday our Earth Day.
