Thoughts on Health, Cancer and Mortality

stethoscopeIf there is a disease I fear most it’ll be cancer or having a tumor somewhere in my body and its on the stage where any treatments would not be effective. My father has been diagnosed with prostate cancer a few years ago, luckily it was on early stages and it was immediately treated and it’s showing good signs of remissions. That experience has been harrowing for us as a family. I’ve learned to fear getting sick a lot.

Thankfully, medical science have been making leaps and bounds in terms of cancer research and treatment and if you detect cancer or a tumor in early stages there aregood chances that you will be able to get treatment for it.

There are still some rare tumors though that are still difficult to cure even with themost recent advances in medical treatment. Like the mesothelioma disease which isoften a result of exposure to asbestos and it takes years to develop and this diseaseis really rare. It has been decades since Mesothelioma treatment have been developed yet there is still no cure for the disease.

This make me think that we are indirectly responsible for the diseases that afflict us. Environmental damage we wrought and our unhealthy diets have generated new illnesses and we ironically scramble to find cures of. Dying is inevitable. But I think having a disease is not. It’s all really a matter of choices we make now and how we live our life.
