Mid-November 2007 I was revamping my business site and was quite bored already tagging photos of my products ( i am into costume jewelry and was selling online), so I hopped on a forum about women’s lifestyle and there I saw a link to a shopping “kikay” blog site.
That time I didn’t have an idea what blog is! I just thought all things on the web are called websites. No idea what HTML, CSS, plugin, adsense etc. Those were like alien terms for me and a world I didn’t even know about. But looking at that kikay blog site, I was so hooked and thought I could probably do this.
At the onset I had some apprehensions. First I thought blogging is too personal. But while I was sniffing around good blogs, I discovered you can actually blog about everything and anything that interest you. You can be revealing or anonymous depending on you. You just need to set a baseline of what you want to reveal about yourself.
Second reason is that I thought blogging is only for good/expert writers. I’d never categorize myself as a writer and this really stopped me from starting a blog earlier. Constant surfing revealed to me that though its a must that you write a bit, you can still enjoy blogging by sharing your collections of whatnots (videos, music, photos etc). Now I’m still struggling to write good posts, but well
at least I’m trying and enjoying myself while I’m at it.
Third reason, I thought blogs are high-maintenance and would demand a big portion of my time. Well, this is true but once I had familiarized myself with the platform I would say its now fairly easy for me to maintain my blogs.
Fourth reason is I was really intimidated on the site set up. I didn’t have an idea on how to set things up and some bloggers were talking about codes etc and I was in a permanent state of confusion when I started out. Luckily my first blog was with Blogger so I got a lot of help from forums in customizing my blog.
I thought too that I’d be wasting time and that blogging would not be rewarding. This is the most untrue of my misconceptions! Blogging gave me an avenue to share my thoughts, practice writing, meet new friends, read great blogs and now I’m beginning to earn a bit from blogging..
Now that I’m blogging regularly, (my hubby says I’m addicted already and would probably need some treatment judging by the dark circles around my eyes..), I’m wondering WHY THE HECK I DIDN’T BLOG SOONER?

This site rocks!
