Easy Tips on Building A Koi Pond

Posted by on Aug 24, 2009 | 0 comments

I love water ponds especially those with koi’s swimming on it. Why? It’s relaxing, lends each space a different kind of tranquility, serenity. It’s also part of my fond childhood memories. As far as I could remember we always had a loads of pet fishes around.

Koi ponds can either be indoor or outdoor. Really it depends on where you want it and the space you got. I’ve been doing a lot of reading about how to build koi ponds for the house and I realize that koi ponds do take a lot of work, from construction, to maintaining and of course keeping those pretty little fishes alive.

There are several factors to consider when building a koi pond. One is the presence of light. The area you choose should be getting plenty of natural light otherwise you’d end up with a pale and lackluster pond. Artificial light can also be used to help out in case there is really limited light but all the same natural light is still the best.

The location as well as the design of the pond should be carefully thought of as it is not something you can easily take out and replace.

The pond should also be placed near water source and near water outlet for easier cleaning etc.Equipment to be used should also be chosen with care. High quality filtering systems, durable pond pumps.

Materials to be used as lining is also important. You can choose fiberglass, flexible liners, concrete or rigid plastic. If in doubt :D , consult a professional..
