If you are into feng shui, one of the terms you are most likely to encounter is the feng shui bagua. What is this? Before I knew anything about Feng Shui, I actually thought the “bagua” is just a decorative item. So when I started researching about Feng Shui, I was surprised to discover that bagua is actually a tool used by those practicing the Chinese art of Feng Shui.

The Feng Shui Bagua is usually paced over a plan of a house or a room. It can indicated colors, materials, and other elements that can be added or removed from some spots around the house or the room. It is also used to recommend improvements intending to strengthen or change the “chi” in a place, especially if the users of the room or the owner of the house needs improvement in some areas of their life.
These improvements can include the addition of shiny objects, mirrors, crystals, light especially candles, colors, heavy objects, wind chimes and plants. The goal of adding these things is to increase the flow of “chi” or energy and harmony in the area of life that needs to see some growth like health, job or career, finances, or marriage.
Placing these symbols is very important aspect of Feng Shui. For example, placing a fortune plant in the career area (which can be indicated by the bagua) can symbolize advancements in business.
Thinking about feng shui, I realized that though it is an ancient Chinese art, some even consider it mystical, it actually manifests common sense. If a home or room has the harmonious, comfortable and inviting vibe to it, these would naturally make the occupants of room feel more comfortable and harmonious. With both the space and the person occupying it having positive thoughts and energy, then positive things would really come out of it.
